The Wildcats were again highlighted by freshman 133-pound wrestler Bryce Shoemaker, as the Baldwin City, Kan., native pinned his way to the championship round.
He won the 133-pound bracket with a pin in just 34 seconds in his first match of the day against Damion Walls an unattached wrestler and then followed that up with a pin of Kevin Bonilla of Missouri Valley. He won the bracket by pinning fellow teammate AJ Gassman in 2:42. Gassman took second in the 133-pound division.
The Wildcats were represented well in the 141-pound bracket, as Nathan Garcia advanced all the way to the final bout and finished in second-place. He fell to unattached wrestler Kyle Wilson and Josh Wolfe took home third-place for the Wildcats.
Nick Haugen took second for BU in the 149-pound class. He pinned Courtney Strauss of Bethany in a time of 2:45, then fell by major decision, 9-1, to Bethany's Victory Hughes in the title bout.
Baker was also impressive in the 165-pound bracket, as Trevor Sutton rolled through the bracket with wins over teammate Joshua Ortiz and victory over Tanner Ogden in the championship round and Alek Bowles took third in the 165-pound class.
Baker's John Hambleton finished second in the 184-pound bracket with wins over Hayden Deblieck of Central Methodist and pinned unattached wrestler Roman Garcia.
BU's Michael Faison took home third-place in the 197-pound weight class and heavyweight wrestler Beau Bennett competed in the third-place match but fell to Mo Valley's Justin Smith in a 6-2 decision.
