Downing is a four-time state qualifier and three-time state place winner, capturing fifth-place twice and third-place once.

He has had a tremendous high school wrestling career and we look forward to seeing him grow as a student and a wrestler here at Baker University."
The Baker wrestling program ended the 2013-14 season ranked No. 16 in the final NAIA Wrestling Coaches' Top 25 poll and posted its ninth and tenth all-time NAIA All-Americans at the 2014 NAIA Wrestling National Championships in Topeka, Kan., including its first-ever NAIA national champion, 133-pound wrestler Bryce Shoemaker.
