Baker wrestlers finish fifth at NAIA Central Regional

- Ten Wildcats will travel to Oklahoma City, Okla. for the NAIA National Championships.
OSKALOOSA, Iowa - First year wrestling program Baker University competed in their first ever post-season competition by traveling through a grueling snow storm to compete in the Central Region Qualifying tournament at region host William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Jordan leads Wildcats at Missouri Valley College Open
MARSHALL, Mo. - Baker wrestling junior Clarence Jordan (174, Waterloo, Iowa) led all Baker wrestlers by finishing sixth at the Missouri Valley Open in Marshall, Mo. Saturday. With over 230 entries in the tournament, eight Wildcats entered the open with Jordan coming away as a top six finisher.
The MVC Open marked the end of the regular season for the Baker wrestling program and head coach Jimmy May and the Baker wrestlers will now have two weeks to prepare for the NAIA Central Regional at William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa on Saturday February 20th.
Ten Baker grapplers have already secured their spot at the NAIA National Championships in Oklahoma City, Okla. on March 4-6. Two more Baker wrestlers will look to stamp their ticket to the national chapionships at the Central Regional in Oskaloosa.

Wrestling takes third place at Kansas Cup

WICHITA, Kan. - Baker University wrestlers placed third in the inaugural Kansas Cup Invitational at Kansas Newman University on Sunday behind Labette Community College and team champion, Fort Hays State.

Hurla Leads Baker Wrestlers at York Open
YORK, Neb. - The Baker University wrestling team, fresh off defeating NAIA Central Region opponent Bacone College on Tuesday night to stretch their undefeated dual streak to 4-0, traveled north to York, Neb., for the York College Open. Of the 17 Wildcat wrestlers who made the trip, five placed in the top six.
Leading all Baker grapplers was junior Andrew Hurla (157, Edwardsville, Kan.). Hurla (pictured) became the 11th Wildcat to qualify for the NAIA National Championships this season by reaching the finals of the York Open. He claimed runner-up honors after dropping a 4-3 decision to Brandon Perkins of Missouri Valley College.

Undefeated Wildcats down Bacone, improve to 4-0
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University wrestling team kept its perfect dual record intact Tuesday evening as the Wildcats downed Bacone College 28-13, at the George F. Collins Center in Baldwin City, Kan.

Baker prepares to improve on 3-0 dual record
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - The Baker University wrestling team will host a
dual meet against Bacone College Tuesday evening. The match begins at 7 p.m. in the George F. Collins Center.
Two Bacone wrestlers have qualified for the NAIA national tournament: Jeremy Colbert in the 285-pound division and Cornelius Sutton in the 165 division.

Wildcat wrestlers complete successful road trip
Hastings, Neb. - The Baker University wrestling team kicked off 2010 with a bang this weekend in Hastings, Neb., by improving its dual meet record to 3-0, with a 27-12 victory over Hastings. Nine Wildcats placed in the Hastings Open the following day.
The Wildcats are halfway through their scheduled dual meets, with a perfect 3-0 record, all over Nebraska colleges. The Wildcats won 7 of 10 matches over the Broncos. The following day the Wildcats added more firsts to the first-year program’s list of accomplishments.

Baker takes down Hastings 27-12, improving to 3-0
HASTINGS, Neb. - The Baker men's wresting team improved to 3-0 Friday evening when they defeated Hastings College 27-12.
