Coach Windle excited about softball team potential
FORT WORTH, Texas- The Baker University softball team showed it has the potential to be a dangerous squad this season after facing top competition at the weekend Cowtown Classic.
The Wildcats opened Friday afternoon against Northwood University (Texas). The Wildcats stayed in the game late, trailing 1-0 heading into the sixth inning, but Northwood broke open the game with a four-run sixth to close out the Wildcats. Heather Gruber pitched six innings, while giving up only three earned runs in the 5-0 defeat.

Lady Cats‘ softball team opens up the season on Friday
FORT WORTH, Texas - The Wildcat softball team kicks off the 2011 campaign with a trip to Fort Worth, Texas for the Cowtown Classic. Pool play begins Friday February 18th against stiff competition.
The first match up is against Northwood University (Texas). Last season Northwood (33-24, 20-8 RRAA) finished third in the highly competitive Red River Athletic Conference.

Baker inks two softball recruits for 2011-12
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University softball team has received signed national letters of intent from Summer Kelley (Shawnee, Kan.) and Peyton Weekly (Gardner, Kan.) to enroll at the university and play for the Wildcats starting in the spring of 2012, head coach Matt Windle announced.

Kelsey Epperson named NAIA Scholar-Athlete
Senior Kelsey Epperson had career-high numbers in 2010.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Baker University softball player, Kelsey Epperson, was among 275 student-athletes honored today as a Daktronics/NAIA All-America Scholar-Athlete, released by the national office in Kansas City, Mo.
Nominated by each institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior academic status to qualify.
The Wildcats finished the season 18-31 under first-year head coach Matt Windle and made the playoffs for the first time in four years.

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - After advancing to the HAAC Playoffs for the first time in four years, the Wildcats added more accolades to a team that had already reached new heights. As selected by league coaches, the Wildcats had three players named to the Heart of America all-conference team.

Wildcats set to face top-seeded Lindenwood Friday afternoon

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - The Baker University softball team will return to action Friday afternoon when it travels to St. Charles, Mo., to face top-seeded Lindenwood University in the opening round of the 2010 HAAC Playoffs.
The Wildcats (7-13) are coming off a doubleheader split with Central Methodist University. Baker took game one 5-3 thanks to a three-run homer by Katie Worley in the third inning. Central Methodist took game two 6-0.
Lindenwood (17-3) has been stellar all season. In their previous match-up with the Wildcats, the Lions swept Baker 6-0 and 6-2.

Baker's Katie Worley named HAAC Player of the Week
Junior Katie Worley led the Baker women's softball team back to the playoffs.
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Baker junior catcher Katie Worley was named HAAC Softball Player of the Week, Commissioner Larry Lady announced Monday afternoon.
Worley, a native of Platte Woods, Mo., hit 1.000 while slugging 1.800 in a week that saw the Wildcats advance to their first playoff berth in four years. Worley's three-run homer in the third-inning of a doubleheader last week gave Baker a 5-0 lead from which they never looked back.
