NBC Action News visits Baker football
The 2009 Baker University football team will be featured this Sunday at 10 p.m. on NBC Action News. Sports reporter Lance Veeser will discuss the expectations of the upcoming season with senior starting quarterback, Mack Brown, and Head Coach Mike Grossner.
Both Mack and Coach Grossner discuss the steps it took to become one of the elite teams in the nation over the past four years.

Baker University standout continues to dominate in Minor Leagues
Nuno-mania is spreading among the Cleveland Indians minor league organization. Vidal Nuno, picked by the Indians in the 48th round this year out of Baker University, continues to impress scouts. In 12 appearances this season (seven starts) in a short season in single-A Mahoning Valley, based in Niles, Ohio, the left-hander has posted a 5-0 record with a 1.57 ERA, having allowed 37 hits and 13 walks while striking out 43 in 51.2 innings pitched.

No. 12 Baker visits No. 16 Missouri Valley Saturday
The last time Missouri Valley and Baker met on the football field, Mack Brown was throwing a game-winning touchdown to Tyrell Spain (pictured) with eight seconds to play in regulation. It was the game that made 2008 a special season for the Baker Wildcats. The stakes haven’t changed in 2009. With Baker ranked 12th nationally and Missouri Valley ranked 16th, both teams know the bull's-eye is on their back.

Brooke Pryor and Andrew Patch represent Baker as HAAC Players of the Week
In Saturday's 34-14 loss to Missouri Valley, Andrew Patch provided one of the only highlights when he returned a 57-yard interception for a touchdown to get Baker on the scoreboard. Patch also had 3 tackles, 2.5 tackles for a loss, 15 tackle yards for loss, 2 sacks, 1 interception, and 1 pass break-up.
Brooke Pryor led the Lady 'Cats this past weekend when they traveled to Chicago, Ill., to participate in the St. Xavier Tournament. Pryor recorded 72 kills in four tournament matches averaging 4.3 kills per game.

Baker jumps in recent NAIA Top 25 poll
Despite a tie in their recent road contest against No. 23 McKendree University, Baker University continues to move up in the national rankings. Baker currently sits at 2-0-1 on the season, and ranks No. 8 nationally with 474 points. Goalkeeper Alex Burton (pictured) has recorded a shutout in every contest this season. Burton has made 11 saves on the season, averaging 3.7 per game. The Wildcats will be back in action this Friday when they take on No. 19 Vanguard University (2-1-0) at 5:15 PM at North Park in Baldwin City, KS. View the full NAIA Poll here.

Family Weekend to be in full swing starting Friday afternoon
Baker Athletics will help kick-off family weekend starting at 1:00 p.m. Friday afternoon. The Baker women's volleyball team will be hosting the Baker Invitational in the George F. Collins Center. Participating teams include: William Jewell College, Avila University, Benedictine University, Ottawa University, Oklahoma City University, The University of Sioux Falls, and Park University. Baker will take on Park at 3:00 p.m. followed by Oklahoma City at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, Baker will take on Ottawa at 1:00 p.m. followed by Sioux Falls at 3:00 p.m. Brooke Pryor was named HAAC Player of the Week after a dominating weekend in Chicago. Baker volleyball currently holds an 8-1 overall record, and sits in 1st place in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
The Baker University soccer teams will also be in action all weekend long. On Friday afternoon the Lady ‘Cats will take on No. 22 Olivet Nazarene (4-0-1) at 3:00 p.m. at North Park in Baldwin City. Alix Schiraldi currently leads the ‘Cats with 4 goals through the first four games of the season.
