After another successful fall campaign, the Baker University Department of Athletics finished 8th in total points in the 2016 Learfield Directors’ Cup NAIA Final Fall Standings.

Baker earned 198 points, putting them second in the Heart of America Athletic Conference and second in Kansas behind No. 3 MNU, who captured 224 points.

“What a fantastic fall season, said Baker Director of Athletics Theresa Yetmar. “I am so proud of our coaches and student-athletes. They continue to raise the bar for both academic and athletic excellence at our institution. With hard work, passion, and dedication, our team of coaches and administrators has created a culture where each athletic program strives to get better every day and win the right way. I cannot wait to see what we have in store for 2017.”

The Wildcats earned 90 points after its NAIA national runner-up finish by the Baker football team, which finished the season with a school-record 14 wins and a 14-1 record. The team competed in its second NAIA National Championship game on Dec. 17 against the University of St. Francis in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Baker also earned 83 points from its women’s soccer program, which advanced to its second NAIA Fab Four and finished No. 3 in the final NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 poll, the highest ranking in program history.

The Baker men’s soccer team helped BU earn 25 points after qualifying for its fourth-straight NAIA Men’s Soccer National Championship tournament.
