Alpha Chi Omega
The Omicron chapter of Alpha Chi Omega sorority shined bright in the eyes of its national headquarters when it received the Continuing Excellence Award as well as awards in five other areas. Alpha Chi earned the Grade Cup for having the highest GPA among sororities for the 30th consecutive semester. The chapter also raised more than $600 for domestic violence awareness.
Delta Delta Delta
Delta Delta Delta sorority celebrated its 113th year at Baker by bringing in 17 new members in the fall. The chapter partnered with its alumnae chapter in Kansas City for the A Chance For Children 5K run. Delta Delta Delta, raising more funds through its annual chili feed, will host its annual D-Hop Pancake Feed, both benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Zeta Phi Beta
On Dec. 3, 2011, the Baker University chapter of Zeta Phi Beta sorority celebrated five years on Baker’s campus. The members conducted several spring events, including the annual Z-Gram Sales, a relationship workshop and Zumba with the Zetas. The chapter also contributes money to the March of Dimes Organization.
Zeta Tau Alpha
Members of Zeta Tau Alpha are gearing up for several events to celebrate a century of sisterhood on Baker’s campus.
Delta Tau Delta
Delta Tau Delta fraternity has grown in its community-service involvement. The Gamma Theta chapter improved the Adopt-a-School program, where members mentor students at local elementary schools. The chapter also created the Men’s Leadership Project and is partnering with Baker Farm Hands. In spring 2011, Delta Tau Delta won the Five-Star Chapter Award, which names the best fraternity on campus, for the fourth-straight year.
The 2011 Baker University Greek Week title belongs to Kappa Sigma fraternity. Kappa Sigma has the second highest GPA among Baker fraternities and was recognized by its national headquarters for having a 100-percent ritual proficiency rate. The fraternity hosted a basketball tournament in the spring benefiting Military Heroes, which is Kappa Sigma’s philanthropy.
Sigma Phi Epsilon
Senior Eric Reimer has not only found success at the Kansas Alpha chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon, but also has stood out with the fraternity’s national headquarters. Reimer was named the J. Edward Zollinger Outstanding Senior at the regional Sigma Phi Epsilon conference. The chapter also won the Man Power Excellence Award at the conference for the second year in a row.
Zeta Chi fraternity has seen an increase in membership, gaining nine new members in the 2011-12 academic year. Fall 2011 marked the seventh consecutive semester the chapter earned the highest GPA among fraternities at Baker. The chapter hosted a Best Beard Contest in conjunction with No Shave November and raised more than $200 for the American Cancer Society.
