Phenomena First: Understanding and Applying the Next Generation Science Standards

Transitioning to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) is a bit like moving from teaching a recipe to teaching someone how to be a chef. It’s less about memorizing facts and more about "figuring out" how the world works. The NGSS isn't just a new list of topics; it's a structural change. This course is designed for anyone wanting to understand this pivotal shift in science education. In this course, students will use A Framework for K-12 Science Education to examine the standards and analyze proper alignment to units in the K-12 science classroom. Students will leave the course with resources that promote integration of the NGSS.
