Performance Opportunities

Baker students can participate in a variety of vocal and instrumental ensembles, workshops, recitals and tours.

Recently, the Jazz Ensemble performed in Branson, Mo., and the Chamber Singers performed in California. Baker ensembles have also performed in England, Ireland and Italy.

Competitions & Selections

  • Vocalists compete in the regional auditions for the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
  • Pianists compete in the Kansas Music Teachers Association collegiate auditions and in the Music Teachers National Association Young Artists' Competition.
  • Instrumentalists are nominated and selected to perform in the Kansas Intercollegiate Band.

Majors & Minor

The Department of Music and Theatre offers a major and minor in music. Students interested in the study of music may also look into music education. Courses required for these programs are listed in the current catalog.
