About President Fournier

With more than 25 years of academic leadership experience, Dr. Fournier brings an accomplished background in strategic planning, enrollment growth, student affairs, accreditation, and institutional partnerships.

Before joining Baker, he served as provost and vice president at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. During his tenure, he held key roles, including:

  • Dean of studies
  • Assistant dean of social sciences and education
  • Professor of psychology

His leadership improved student retention, led to new high-demand academic programs, strengthened revenue streams, and expanded partnerships in business and health care. His approach blends innovation with the traditions that define student-centered learning—positioning him uniquely to lead Baker University.

On July 1, 2025, Dr. Jody Fournier, became the 31st president of Baker University. His passion for academic excellence, institutional collaboration, and meaningful student outcomes sets a bold direction for Baker’s future.

  • Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
  • Master of Science in Family Relations and Human Development – Child Development
  • Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology

Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards, including:

  • Capital University’s Praestantia Award for outstanding teaching
