The First 58

Two young women jump high on a sports field, watched by a group of people and stadium seats.

The first few weeks of college are about more than finding your classes. They are about finding your people, building your routine, discovering campus traditions, and starting to feel at home.

That is why Baker University is launching The First 58 — a campuswide series of events, activities, and experiences during the first 58 days of the fall semester. From welcome events and student organization activities to athletic events, community traditions, service opportunities, late-night programming, and Homecoming Week, The First 58 is designed to help students connect early and often.

Whether you are a new student, returning student, commuter, athlete, transfer student, or future Wildcat exploring Baker, The First 58 gives you a chance to experience the energy, support, and community that make Baker feel like home.

What to Expect

Throughout The First 58, students will have daily opportunities to:

  • Meet new people and build friendships
  • Explore student organizations and campus resources
  • Attend athletic events and Baker traditions
  • Participate in social, wellness, service, and leadership activities
  • Connect with faculty, staff, alumni, and the Baldwin City community
  • Celebrate Homecoming as one of Baker’s signature campus traditions

Why It Matters

The transition into a new academic year is one of the most important moments in the student experience. The First 58 is Baker’s commitment to helping students feel connected from the beginning — not just on move-in day, but every day throughout the early weeks of the semester.

This is your invitation to show up, try something new, meet someone new, and make Baker yours.

Find your people. Find your place. Start your Baker story.
