“Wink” lettered in football and track, and after an injury to his knee, he managed the football and basketball teams. His athletic career at Baker was interrupted by four years of meritorious service during WWII with the U.S. Navy. Returned to Baker in 1946 – kicked winning field goal against Kansas Wesleyan on homecoming. Officer of the “B” Club. After graduation from Baker, entered law school receiving LLB and DJ Degrees – 1951, while in law school, began officiating high school and college games.

Since has officiated in junior colleges, the Kansas Conference, the CIC and the Big Eight. Has been chosen to officiate NAIA Championships, two Sterling Silver Bowls, the Sugar Bowl, two Sun Bowls, two Orange Bowls, and the NCAA Championships. Presently a Big Eight Football observer of officials. Active in the Paola Methodist Church and a forceful leader in community and civic affairs.


Nomination Procedures

Anyone is eligible to write an open letter of nomination regarding an individual they believe to be worthy of induction to the Baker University Athletic Hall of Fame. The nominations must be received by December 31 to be considered for induction during the next calendar year. Once an individual is nominated, he or she remain in an active file for review by the Hall of Fame Selection Committee. The selection committee sends recommendations in the spring to the President of the University for final approval for fall induction.
