Forever Orange: The Campaign for Baker University
Scholarships enabled Galindo to follow his soccer dream
Carlos Galindo, Class of 2020
Carlos Galindo always knew he wanted to play college soccer. Not only has he been passionate about the sport for as long as he can remember, but playing soccer at a university also provided Galindo a way to get a great education and grow as a person. At first, he didn’t know which college soccer would take him to, but there was no doubt in his mind after his recruiting trip to Baker. He found the campus beautiful, faculty amazing, and students friendly at every turn. He considered it a natural fit.
“After meeting the faculty, I knew that I could learn how to become an all-around success as a business major and that I will be well prepared when I eventually enter the business world,” he said.
Now that Galindo is part of the Baker community, he feels very fortunate indeed.
“It’s been easy to get involved and I’ve met many people, both in the soccer program and in my fraternity, Kappa Sigma, who have become my closest friends,” he said.
Galindo credits his athletic and academic scholarships and the scholarships of these other students for the connections he’s made at Baker.
“It’s cliché to say that these scholarships have changed my life for the better, but it’s also very true. I’m forever grateful to Baker University.”
