New Student Checklist

Now that you have chosen Baker, you probably have lots of questions! This checklist will help you get ready to start your Baker journey.

New Student Checklist Steps

All new Baker University students are required to complete the following checklist items before their first semester. You can check your progress on these items in the Admissions Hub.

  • Welcome, Wildcat! We’re excited to have you join the Baker community.
    Submit Enrollment Deposit

    After submitting your deposit, the rest of your checklist will become available in your Admissions Hub

  • After submitting your deposit, you will receive an email from Baker’s IT department with instructions to set up your Baker email and password through Access Baker.

  • Summer Orientation is a full-day experience where you will:

    • Finalize your class schedule
    • Meet fellow students, faculty, and staff
    • Learn about campus resources and financial aid
    • Explore ways to get involved
    • Enjoy time on campus with your family (family programming included)

  • All full-time Baldwin City campus students are required to live in university housing unless approved for an exemption.

    Complete your housing application or submit a Residency Requirement Exemption request in your Admissions Hub.

  • Baker University requires some immunization information from you. You will submit a copy in your checklist.

  • Smile big! Your Student ID will be used for all parts of campus life so make sure you love your picture!

  • This agreement outlines your financial responsibilities to Baker University as a student.

  • Watch the mail for your financial aid offer. Sign and return the accept/decline financial aid document. You will have to accept or deny your student loans for us to apply them to your account.

  • If you are bringing a car to campus, you are required to register your car with the Campus Safety Office. Registration for parking permits will be available during Wildcat Welcome, and students will be able to pick up permits upon registration.

  • Baker University requires you to carry medical insurance in order to help defray eligible medical costs in the event of an injury or sickness. We have selected student injury and sickness insurance provided and administered by UnitedHealthcare StudentResources.

    If you are currently covered by a comparable insurance plan, you now have the option to complete a Waiver Form to request a review of your existing coverage. All students will receive an email providing instructions on how to register for coverage or waive Baker University’s coverage.

  • To finalize your schedule, Baker must receive all final transcripts (high school and any college coursework).
