Marching festival set for Oct. 17
Baldwin City, Kan. — More than 1,200 area high school musicians will participate in the 14th annual Baker University Marching Festival on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Liston Stadium. Performances begin at 2:30 p.m. and finish at 8:30 p.m. The public is welcome.The festival for Class 1-5A schools will feature 14 marching bands, three color guard units and four drum lines.
Judges for the event are John Kieffer, former coordinator of instrumental music for the Olathe Public Schools and director of the Olathe South High School band; Eric Stambaugh, director of bands at Buhler High School; Brad Shores, director of bands at Haven High School; and Jerry Stone, former director of bands at Maize High School.
The Jeremy Frye Memorial Championship Trophy will be presented to the total points champion band of the festival at the final awards ceremony at 9 p.m.
