Community Choir rehearsals to begin
Baldwin City, Kan. — The Baker University Community Choir will begin rehearsals for the spring season at 6 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 24, at McKibbin Recital Hall on the Baldwin City campus.
Baker students, Baldwin City and area residents interested in singing are welcome to participate in the choir, led by Dr. Matthew Potterton, director of choral activities at Baker. The choir will perform various selections from sacred to secular and from Renaissance to American folk styles.
The choir will perform concerts on Tuesday, April 16, and Friday, May 3. The April 16 event will be at 7:30 p.m. at Baldwin First United Methodist Church. The May 3 event will be at 7:30 p.m. at Rice Auditorium. Professional jazz vocalist Kevin Mahogany, a 1981 Baker graduate, will be a guest artist at the May concert.
Beginning this semester the fee for all non-student participants in the Community Choir is $20 per person. All proceeds benefit the Baker choirs. Anyone who is unable to cover the cost will still be able to join the choir.
