Women's Golf Inks Three Future Wildcats

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Baker University head women's golf coach Karen Exon announced the signing of three strong female student-athletes to the 2013-2014 Baker University Women's Golf team on Tuesday afternoon.

Kaci Dillingham of Kansas Class 6A Washburn Rural HS-Topeka, Amber Mechtley of Kansas Class 5A Emporia HS and Anna Wright of Kansas Class 6A Lawrence HS.

Coach Exon is pleased that all three signees are strong students with demonstrated good citizenship in their respective communities.

Dillingham competed in four straight Kansas 6A State Girl's Golf Championships (2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012) finishing T-14 as a junior at Olathe's Shadow Glenn CC and 5th place as a senior at Wichita's Rolling Hills CC. A multi-sport high school student-athlete, Dillingham has decided to focus on golf as a collegian at Baker.

Mechtley also competed in four straight Kansas 5A State Girl's Golf Championships. Like Dillingham, Mechtley is a multi-sport high school student-athlete who will focus on golf and medaled in the 2012 Kansas 6A State Girl's Golf Championship contested at Wichita's Rolling Hills CC with a 15th place finish.

Wright competed as a senior in the 2012 Kansas 6A State Girl's Golf Championship finishing 30th at Wichita's Rolling Hills CC.

"Kaci Dillingham, Amber Mechtley, and Anna Wright have the ability and potential to make an immediate impact on the 2013-2014 women's golf team since we graduate two seniors who have both played on the varsity squad for the past two seasons," Exon said.

"I believe that Kaci, Amber, and Anna have the potential to strengthen our squad for next season. All three are motivated and committed to working on the finer points of their games this summer and they will compete in local, regional, and state golf competitions which will sharpen their skills."
