BU Defeats Ottawa, Men Fall 5-4

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University men's and women's tennis teams took on Ottawa University on Tuesday afternoon on Baker's campus and the women's team rolled past OU, 7-2, while the Braves narrowly defeated the men's squad, 5-4.

In the men's match, Baker won the doubles portion, 2-1 with Gabe Greenbaum and Theo Nichols defeating Ottawa's Jimmy Brooks and Raj Selvari, 8-4. Ryan Gleue and Devin Glasgow took down OU's Brenden Edwards and Brenson Vile 8-6.

But the 'Cats managed just two victories out of the six singles matches, with Greenbaum defeating Vile, 6-4, 2-6 (10-7) and Nichols beating Edwards 6-4, 4-1.

In the women's match, Baker also went 2-1 in the doubles matches with Caitlin Metseff and Lulu Ruding defeating OU's Madeline Bellew and Ellen Agnew, 8-5. Caroline Lockwood and Bre Cunningham then took down Bekka Bailey and Kamisha Paterson, 8-3.

The Wildcats won five of the six singles matches with Megan Henry defeating Jennifer Luedtke, 6-4, 6-2, along with Metseff winning 6-2, 6-4 over Bellew, Lockwood took down Agnew 6-2, 4-6 (10-7), Ruding defeated Good, 6-1, 6-2 and Cunningham won her match over Bailey, 6-3, 6-4.

Baker will next take on William Jewell on Friday, Mar. 14 at 3:30 p.m. here in Baldwin City, Kan.
