To be awarded an academic scholarship, freshmen and new transfer students must be admitted to the College of Arts and Sciences or a School of Education undergraduate program.

If you have not applied for admission, you may apply online.

After you are admitted to Baker, we’ll use the information on file to determine your academic scholarship eligibility. For need-based aid, you should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). When your FAFSA results arrive, we’ll prepare your individual financial aid letter, which details all known sources of financial aid. Learn more about need-based programs.

First-Year & Transfer Scholarships | 2027-28

The Baker Way is to recognize students for both their academic achievement and the impact they bring to campus. Two scholarships. One belief, you deserve credit for both.

Merit Scholarships

Your grades already earned you something. At Baker, they're worth $12,000, $13,000, $14,000, or $16,000 a year, renewable, no separate application, no essay. Apply, get admitted, and see your Merit Scholarship on your award letter.

Eligibility for these scholarships is based on a cumulative transfer GPA determined by the Baker University registrar at the time of enrollment.

Impact Scholarships

Ready to Chase.

Every Wildcat brings something to this campus. On the field, on stage, behind a camera, in the marching band, in student leadership. Tell us what you're ready to chase, and if you show us you're ready, an Impact Scholarship is already yours. No audition. No interview.

Impact Scholarships reward exactly that, real recognition, real dollars, awarded the moment you tell us who you're ready to be at Baker.

How It Works

  • On your application, tell us the one area you're most excited to chase at Baker.
  • Answer a couple of quick questions about your experience and why you want to keep going. No audition, no portfolio, no interview.
  • If your answers show real experience and real intent, your Impact Scholarship is awarded automatically, with amounts that vary.

Chase What You Love

Band  •  Marching Band  •  Choir  •  Theatre  •  Art  •  Mass Media (Radio, TV, Journalism, Etc.)  •  Creative Writing  •  Leadership  •  Campus Ministry  •  Community Engagement/Volunteering  •  Robotics

Choosing Athletics on your application connects you directly with a coach about an Athletic Scholarship, Baker's other students earn their spot the same way ours always has, through what they've already shown us.

Baker 105

Baker University is committing to Kansas, all of it. We're selecting at least one first-year student from every one of Kansas's 105 counties to receive a full-tuition scholarship, covering whatever tuition remains after your financial aid package is applied. This isn't about one region or one zip code. It's about every Kansas family, in every Kansas town, and the industries our graduates go on to lead.

How to Qualify

  • Apply for admission to Baker University
  • File the FAFSA
  • Be a Kansas resident

That's it. Baker 105 recipients are selected from qualified applicants in each county, there's no separate application, essay, or interview required.

Key Dates

  • December 1, financial aid packaging and Baker 105 awarding begins
  • January 15, priority deadline to apply and file your FAFSA for Baker 105 consideration

Submission Deadline: December 1, 2026

Athletic Awards

Scholarships for our student-athletes are packaged differently than for students who do not participate in varsity athletics. Athletic awarding is done on a case-by-case basis. All prospective athletes must complete a FAFSA. Coaches will visit with prospective players about the aid they are eligible to receive.

The Athletic Department offers scholarship awards that recognize academic and athletic talent. In addition to these offers, the Bishop Quayle Award and an award from the Harter Scholarship Competition can be added. Federal, state, and outside aid can provide additional assistance.

ROTC Scholarship | $2,000 per year

Baker is the only school in the entire KU Army ROTC Battalion that offers its own ROTC scholarship. That's not a coincidence, it's because we back students who show up ready to lead before they've even commissioned. Incoming ROTC students joining the KU Battalion at Baker receive $2,000 a year toward their degree, no gimmicks, just real support for the work you're already putting in.

KC Scholars | $1,000 per year

Designated KC Scholars receive an additional $1,000 a year at Baker, stacked on top of whatever merit or Impact Scholarship you've already earned.

Endowed Scholarships | $750-$3,000

Endowed scholarships are given to incoming freshmen who show promise in a particular academic area. Our graduates understand the value of their Baker education, so many of them or their families fund scholarships in an academic area important to them to help make the dream of a Baker education a reality for deserving students. | View Full List of Endowed Scholarships

Bishop Quayle Award | $300 per semester, maximum award of $600 per year
