New Student Checklist

Now that you have chosen Baker, you probably have lots of questions! This checklist will help you get ready to start your Baker journey.

Student Affairs

All new Baker University students will have a checklist of items to complete before their Summer Orientation date. The first of these items open February 2 for deposited students and more items will be added to your checklist as the spring continues.

New Student Checklist

Your New Student Checklist will include all below items – depending on your deposit date, you may see just some of these or all of them. If you have any questions, please reach out to your Admission Counselor or our Orientation team – we’re all here to help and make sure completing these are a breeze!

1. Commit to Baker

Welcome Wildcat! We’re so excited for you to be a Baker student – follow the New Student Checklist button above to submit your Enrollment agreement and Deposit. Congratulations on making the best decision!

2. Set up Baker Credentials

After you deposit, be on the lookout for an email from Baker’s Information Technology (IT) department to set up your Baker email and password through Access Baker. Keep your password in a safe place – you’ll need it for all kinds of things at Baker.

3. Register for Orientation

Summer Orientation is a day-long event where you will truly get the lay of the land as a Baker student. You’ll finalize your fall class schedule, learn more about getting involved on campus, meet SO many people, learn more about Financial Aid, and visit with campus resources, and of course, enjoy lunch in the cafeteria. Bring your family as we have special programming for them as well. Students can choose from these dates:

Thursday, May 28
Wednesday, June 10
Tuesday, June 23
Friday, July 10
Tuesday, July 21
Friday, August 14

4. Housing Application or Request for Residency Exemption (RRE)

All full-time Baker University students on the Baldwin City campus are required to live in university-sponsored housing. The application provides us with information to make the best housing assignment for all involved.

Students who meet certain criteria may request to be considered for an exemption to the residency requirement.

5. Preference BC 110 classes for Fall 2026

New BC110 courses are first-year seminars focused on the Baker Core curriculum, college-level writing, critical inquiry, and academic skills in fun, thematic sections. You’ll prioritize which seem the most interesting to you so we can start building your schedule, which we will finalize at Summer Orientation with you.

6. Immunization Information

Baker University requires some immunization information from you. You will submit a copy in your checklist.

7. Submit a Photo for your Student ID

Smile big! Your Student ID will be used for all parts of campus life so make sure you love your picture!

8. Financial Responsibility Agreement

This agreement outlines your financial responsibilities to Baker University as a student.

9. Accept/Decline Financial Aid Offer

Watch the mail for your financial aid offer. Sign and return the accept/decline financial aid document. You will have to accept or deny your student loans for us to apply them to your account.

10. Get a Parking Permit

All students must submit the Parking Permit form to either register your car to receive a parking pass at move in or to waive this requirement if you will not have a car on campus.

11. Verify Medical Insurance

Baker University requires all students to carry medical insurance. You must submit a waiver request to verify coverage, or you will be required to purchase student insurance coverage.

12. Final Transcripts

So that we can build the best schedule possible for your first semester, have your school send us all final transcripts. This includes college transcripts for dual-credit and transfer coursework completed at a two-year or four-year institution.
