Baker University Announces Leadership Changes as Part of Planned Transitions

Baker University today announced a series of academic leadership updates that reflect continued momentum under President Jody S. Fournier and the University’s commitment to strong, student-centered academic stewardship as it looks ahead into 2026.

Vice President of Academic Affairs

Dr. Matthew R. Bice, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, has accepted a new position at The University of Tennessee at Martin, effective April 1, 2026. Baker University congratulates Dr. Bice on this next chapter and expresses deep gratitude for his leadership.

Interim Academic Appointments

As Baker continues to strengthen alignment across its academic programs, the University is moving forward with several interim academic appointments that reinforce continuity and position the institution for long-term success.

Beginning January:

  • Dr. Kirk Haskins will serve as Interim Dean of the School of Professional and Graduate Studies (SPGS), with a focus on enrollment, operational implementation, and academic program development and alignment.
  • Dr. Ranee Seastrom will serve as Interim Dean of the School of Nursing (SON), bringing experienced leadership and deep familiarity with Baker’s nursing mission.
  • Dr. Tina Hartley, will serve as Executive Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) with an expanded role to support Library Services and the Center for Teaching Learning and Development.

Dr. Libby Rosen Concludes a Distinguished Career and Unwavering Dedication to SON

Baker University recognizes the retirement of Dr. Libby Rosen, longtime leader of the School of Nursing. Dr. Rosen’s distinguished career has been marked by her unwavering dedication to students, faculty, and the nursing profession. Her visionary leadership has shaped the SON’s reputation for excellence and has left a lasting impact on generations of Baker graduates. We continue to celebrate Dr. Rosen’s tremendous contributions in the months ahead, and thank her for her outstanding leadership.

A Strong Path Forward

“These updates reflect Baker University’s commitment to thoughtful leadership, student success, academic excellence, and long-term stewardship of the institution,” said President Fournier. “We are grateful for the service of those who have helped move Baker forward, and we have great confidence in the strength and resilience of our academic community as we enter this next bold chapter of growth and excellence together.”

Baker University remains focused on supporting students, faculty, and staff through steady leadership, collaboration, and a shared sense of purpose and transparency. Additional updates will be communicated as appropriate.
