Senior Tyler Cawley has earned Baker University’s Student Leader of the Month award for February based on his dedication and contributions to the surrounding community.

A Baldwin City native, Cawley spent the fall volunteering his time to serve as the scout team quarterback for Baldwin High School’s football team in addition to providing color commentary on radio broadcasts of BHS football games. Cawley also conducts swimming lessons and assists with youth sports through the Baldwin City Recreation Commission.

“Tyler has been a big part of the Baldwin City community since he graduated from Baldwin High,” his nominator said. “Tyler is the perfect example of a great leader in the community and is exactly what the people of Baldwin City want to represent them.”

Cawley’s community influence extends beyond Baldwin City. Formerly an education major, he assisted the Lawrence High School  debate team and classes as part of a practicum.

“Tyler has been doing his part this semester in helping out the Douglas County community,” his nominator said.
