Dedication to SAC garners Edwards Student Leader of the Month award

Senior Blake Edwards has earned Baker University’s Student Leader of the Month award for November based on his campus leadership.

A graduate of Liberal (Kansas) High School, Edwards has been involved with Student Activities Council since his freshman year, each year increasing his responsibilities on the executive staff. He started as entertainment coordinator, moved up to vice president of featured events, and now serves as president.

“Through these roles, Blake has assisted in leading the organization to win more than six national awards ranging from graphics awards to programmatic awards,” Edwards’ nominator said. “During Blake’s tenure, he has also been part of the organization when they were given the Program of the Year Award through NACA [National Association of Campus Activities].”

Edwards’ award-filled tenure with SAC has coincided with his involvement in Greek life and new student orientation.

“I have seen Blake develop as a leader not only through SAC, but also through his other forms of involvement with Zeta Chi fraternity and orientation,” Edwards’ nominator said. “I have been very proud to see him evolve into a leader today who will be serving with the FDIC [Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation] next year. Baker has built Blake to be a true leader, and he will become an outstanding alumnus of this amazing university!”
