Teacher Burnout: Strategies to Help Educators Rediscover Purpose and Satisfaction
Monday, June 9 - Sunday, July 27
Teaching has always been a challenging profession, often with higher burnout rates than other careers. Currently, record numbers of teachers are reporting feeling or approaching burnout. While so many contributing factors are beyond our control, there are things we can do to help ourselves. In this course we’ll look at some strategies other teachers have used to help prevent or overcome feelings of burnout. The content provided is a summary and highlights of four recent books, along with some articles and podcasts on the topic. Participants will get a variety of perspectives and suggestions to consider. The assignments are designed to encourage reflection and help teachers create a personalized plan of strategies. Rather than self-care outside of school, most of these strategies relate to small changes in mindset, habits, routines, and boundaries at work, to help rediscover our purpose and satisfaction in teaching.
