Closing the Gap!

If your financial aid offer does not cover your bill and you need additional payment options, review the list below.

Outside Scholarships

Contact your high school counselor about scholarship opportunities within your local region. Contact organizations that you are a member of and ask about scholarship opportunities. Baker University assembles an Outside Scholarship Newsletter for all Baker University campuses. It includes details such as how much you can earn, where to apply, and deadlines. We email this to our student every three months.

Federal Parent PLUS Loan

A parent of a dependent undergraduate student can apply for a Federal Direct Parent PLUS loan. The current Federal Parent PLUS Loan interest rate is 9.08% and the origination fee is 4.228%. Apply at studentloans.gov under the Parent tab. Enrollment for the 2025-26 school year begins June 1, 2025. A credit check will be conducted. If you have an adverse credit history, you may still be able to receive a PLUS loan if you meet additional requirements. If denied, the student could be eligible for additional federal loans in their name. Parents of independent students cannot apply.

Private Credit Loan

It is recommended that you exhaust all federal student loan eligibility before applying for a private credit loan. Private credit loans can help bridge the gap between the actual cost of your education and the amount the government allows you to borrow. Private loans are credit-based loans, and lenders will review your history of borrowing money.  For a list of lenders Baker University has worked with in the past, visit elmselect.com.
