Baldwin City, Kan. – Baker University’s men’s athletic program finished the 2013-14 academic year with the highest overall GPA of all 10 institutions in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, announced by the conference office.  For that honor, Baker was awarded a $1,000 scholarship to a current male senior student-athlete of their choosing.

Receiving the HAAC Commissioner’s GPA Award and scholarship is senior Zach Aldrich. The Topeka, Kan., native is a current member of the BU men’s tennis team and plans to graduate this May with a degree in business.

This marks the second-straight year the Baker men’s athletics program has received this award. Ethan Hays of the men’s soccer team received the scholarship a year ago.

“I’m extremely proud of our student-athletes’ performance in the classroom,” said Director of Athletics Theresa Yetmar. “It speaks to their ability to balance priorities and achieve excellence. Our coaches do a tremendous job of supporting our student-athletes in their quest to complete their degree and find their true passion in life.”
