Practice your art

Performance opportunities abound, with student musicians showcasing their talent in a variety of ways. Students need not be music majors to join an ensemble, they just need a passion for making music.

Chamber Singers

This is an auditioned ensemble of advanced musicians who specialize in singing unaccompanied music with only one or two singers on each part. Students regularly divide into duets through octets to perform early sacred and secular music from the Middle Ages and Renaissance as well as modern unaccompanied traditions like barbershop, vocal jazz, and pop a cappella. Members of the Chamber Singers are expected to participate in at least one of the other choirs at Baker University and are highly encouraged to study private voice lessons. Chamber Singers also functions as a lab ensemble for music education majors to practice teaching and conducting techniques, and the group has even been known to perform recorder consort music! Chamber Singers perform at all Baker concerts and serve as Baker’s primary outreach ensemble.
