Prepare for district and state choir auditions with Baker University choral faculty and Visiting Director of Choral Ensembles MacKenzie Wright, who will serve as the workshop clinician.
Students must provide their own copies of the KMEA audition pieces and should bring a water bottle and pencil for the day. There is no workshop fee. Lunch will not be provided at this workshop, but box lunches may be purchased from Baker University Dining Services in advance. Please arrange with MacKenzie Wright before September 23.
The workshop begins at 9 a.m., so please arrive on campus around 8:45 a.m. in order to register. The workshop will conclude by 12:30 p.m.

- Clinic on audition repertoire for All-State Treble and Mixed Choirs
- Vocal technique workshops focusing on treble voices and changing tenor and bass voices

- Strategies for audition success and dealing with performance anxiety when auditioning
Workshop Clinician
MacKenzie Wright received her undergraduate degree in music from Ohio Wesleyan University and master’s degree from the California Institute of the Arts. She is pursuing a Ph.D. in music education with an emphasis on vocal pedagogy at the University of Kansas where she serves as a graduate teaching assistant, teaching courses in vocal pedagogy and choral methods. Ms. Wright has been a presenter at the Kansas Music Educators Association and continues to be an active researcher, focusing on improvisation in communities. She has served as the director of choirs at Ottawa University and also serves as the organist and accompanist at Keystone United Methodist Church in Kansas City, Missouri.
