Annual Christmas Candlelight Vespers concert scheduled for Dec. 8

89th annual Christmas candlelight vespers

Baker University’s Annual Christmas Candlelight Vespers concert is scheduled for 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 8, at Rice Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public.

The concert will feature classic, festive tunes as well as a few lesser-known carols and newly composed pieces.

“This year’s performance is a festive celebration of the holiday season with traditional carols and old favorites presented in new and unique ways,” said Dr. Ryan Olsen, director of choral ensembles at Baker University.  “Highlights include carols for choir and brass, handbells, or flute; a winter tradition sung in an a cappella style (a la Pentatonix); and special songs by candlelight. There is truly something for everyone to bring out the childlike joy of the holiday season.”

Baker University ensembles performing are Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, and Treble Choir, and the Baker Orchestra and Brass Ensemble.
