Annual Vespers concert scheduled for Dec. 9

Baker University’s Annual Christmas Candlelight Vespers is scheduled for 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 9, at Rice Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public.

This year’s production is themed “The Work of Christmas,” based on a poem of the same name by Howard Thurman.

“I love this poem because it focuses on the meaning of Christmas,” said Dr. Ryan Olsen, director of choral ensembles at Baker University. “It isn’t just about the buildup and holiday itself, but also about the work that can carry the Christmas spirit throughout the year.”

The choirs will perform traditional favorites along with fun twists on classic carols. The audience will be invited to join in the fun. Baker University ensembles performing are Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, and Treble Choir, as well as the Baker Orchestra and Brass Ensemble.
