Caring For Your Community
There is a shortage of nurses nationwide and at Baker University we take pride in educating confident and compassionate nurses who are in demand even before they graduate.
Through clinical experience, first-hand observation, and personalized learning, Baker has developed an outstanding reputation for producing the best and brightest nurses in the region. Our graduates validate that year after year with high first-time NCLEX pass rates and job placement rates.
Complete your prerequisites at Baker
Students complete 62 hours of prerequisites on Baker’s Baldwin City campus while working closely with a prenursing advisor, then they complete their two-year professional program at Stormont Vail Health in Topeka. Students who complete their prerequisite work at Baker with a minimum 3.0 GPA are given preference in admissions selections.
Prepare for the NCLEX
More than 90% of our students pass the NCLEX on the first try, which is substantially higher than both the national average and average for Kansas.
Your Job Is Waiting
More than 95% of Baker graduates staying in Kansas and licensed are employed within three months of graduation.
Baker is proud to be one of only 110 institutions worldwide with an Anatomage table—the most technologically advanced anatomy educational tool available. Using this learning resource, students broaden their understanding of the human body and use it as a foundation for the clinical reasoning skills they’ll develop through guided practice using leading technology such as the human patient simulator.
School of Nursing
Students who have taken their prerequisites from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) will be eligible for priority admission to the School of Nursing if they meet the following criteria in addition to meeting admission requirements as stated in the current School of Nursing catalog at the time of application.

- Have at least 12 semester hours of science credits, including anatomy and physiology, from the CAS

Applicants who do not meet criteria for priority admission will be considered for admission with all other applicants.
Our nursing students land jobs at regionally and nationally revered hospitals and care centers, including the University of Kansas Medical Center. Some students choose to pursue graduate school to become nurse practitioners or educators.
