Baker University Graduate Relocated from Egypt to Obtain MBA Degree

Thousands of miles: 6,830 to be exact. That’s how far recent Baker University graduate Wael Elbayoumy relocated from his home in Egypt to further his education at Baker University.

When Elbayoumy began exploring colleges and universities where he could obtain his Master of Business Administration degree, he knew he wanted to attend a university in the United States. With several family members living in Kansas, he turned his research to universities near Kansas City and various schools in the Midwest. Elbayoumy said he chose Baker University, one of the top universities in Kansas according to the U.S. News & World Report, over other schools because Baker’s quality, flexibility, and value best fit his educational needs.

“Obtaining a degree from Baker University is a landmark point in my career,” he said. “[My degree] has equipped me with skills, knowledge, and vision that I aspire to utilize in building my career and advancing in my field.”

With goals of staying in the United States and working in the field of technology and potentially holding a leadership role, Elbayoumy began classes for his MBA degree in January 2015 and graduated in December 2016 from Baker’s School of Professional and Graduate Studies, which was cause for celebration for him and his family. Elbayoumy’s mother traveled more than 6,830 miles from Egypt to attend her son’s graduation festivities. During her visit, Elbayoumy introduced her to many of the Baker University faculty and staff who have been integral in his education and his life over the past two years.

“Baker University faculty are unique because of their real-life, hands-on experience,” Elbayoumy said. “In such a field as business administration, faculty’s real-life experience plays a big role in tying the academic studies with practical insights learned in the field. Most of Baker’s faculty have held middle-management, executive, and C-suite level positions throughout their career path in some of the best and most successful corporations, which greatly adds to the value of the program.”

Elbayoumy said Baker University was the perfect fit, and that he would encourage people looking into other business schools to choose Baker, even if it is thousands of miles away from home.

“Education is your best ally and best hope for a brighter future. Choosing the right institution for your education is critical to achieving this goal,” Elbayoumy said. “Baker University is an excellent example of an institution that provides a unique, high level of education for me and many other fellow students. I highly recommend Baker University for anyone looking to earn a degree from an enjoyable and highly respected institution.”
