Co-Teaching Classrooms

Monday, May 1, 2023 - Sunday, June 18, 2023

Co-Teaching is much more than two or more teachers in a room. It is a systematic approach to education that seeks to engage all students and provide opportunities for all to learn and access content in the general education classroom. Unless practical training and/or education takes place, many feel underqualified and overwhelmed with the idea of teaching in a classroom with two or more teachers. This class in meant to alleviate all those concerns by learning the process of co-teaching through informed content discussions that prepare individuals for a more conducive co-teaching environment. The authors of the text being used have extensive knowledge and provide learners with information that allows for the development and understanding of what co-teaching is and is not, how to address concerns and hesitations, lesson design and co-teaching approaches. Additionally, through this class you will learn the 1) day-to-day working of a co-teaching team, 2) learn the four co-teaching approaches, 3) the role of paraprofessionals in co-teaching, 4) the role of students, 5) how administrators can support co-teaching, and 6) planning, surviving and thriving as a co-teaching pair
