Favorite images of the decade, PR director

Baldwin City, Kan. — A photography exhibit of favorite images, “A Decade Covering the Campus Community,” featuring images taken by Baker University public relations director Steve Rottinghaus in the past 10 years, will be on display April 1 through May 17 at Holt-Russell Gallery on Baker’s Baldwin City campus. It will open at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 1. Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

As Baker’s PR director since June 1, 2005, Rottinghaus has covered several university events throughout the year. The exhibit will include images from commencement, student life, alumni gatherings and campus scenery.

Rottinghaus oversees photography, media relations, promotional writing, internal communications, social media and content for the Baker Proud alumni magazine. He previously worked 20 years in the newspaper industry, including stints at the Topeka Capital-Journal, Dallas Times-Herald, Manhattan Mercury and Lawrence Journal-World. At the newspapers, he worked as a copy clerk, University of Kansas sports correspondent, page designer, assistant sports editor, sportswriter, high school sports columnist, special sections editor and adviser to a teen advisory board. He was awarded in 1999 the Kansas State High School Activities Association’s Oscar Stauffer Award for excellence in the field of sports writing and 2004 he was the editor of KU Today, winner of the Kansas Press Association’s top honor for special sections in the state.

Rottinghaus has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Kansas and a master’s degree in management from Baker University.
