Student journalists advance to national competition

Three student journalists advance to national competition.

Baldwin City, Kan. — Three Baker University student journalists and the editorial board advanced to the Society of Professional Journalists national competition.  The students placed in seven categories at the regional conference in Omaha, Neb., over the weekend.

Chad Phillips, Andover, Kan., qualified for nationals.  Chad’s three different photos all showing efficiency. Taylor Schuck, Lawrence, Kan., advanced for editorial writing and feature writing.  Taylor’s story titled “Family to Move in Search of Medical Marijuana.” Chad Mullen, Eudora, Kan., advanced in sportswriting.

The national competition will be held September in Orlando, Fla.
